Eviltex Hamburgers & Tex-Mex

Eviltex is an eclectic little restaurant tucked away in the ancient town of Takayama, Japan. The menu is as unique and interesting as the restaurant itself! They offer a variety of burgers as well as TexMex dishes that is a welcome change of pace from Japanese cuisine! I ordered the chicken enchiladas and nachos with cheese. Both dishes were delicious, but the cheese on the nachos tasted like vegan cheese and the enchiladas were not your classic enchiladas drenched in delicious sauce and cheese. It was more like a chicken burrito with a side of enchiladas sauce and cheese! It was a delicious plate of food, but I get the feeling that the burgers are the true stars of the show!

A burger joint that also serves Tex-Mex food a few blocks from the Hida Takayama station. The place can serve three groups and one individual, any more and they will have your order served late. You could customize your orders just like a diner, and there are a plethora of condiments at your disposal. I personally like the Cholula hot sauce. The burger was of pretty good quality but I did not enjoy the bread as it was too toasted for my liking. Everything just slid out on the first bite. The service though, immaculate especially for foreigners. They ask your country of origin and they thank you in that language when you bill out.

We dined here both nights of our stay in Takayama. The tacos, burrito and burgers were packed with flavour, super fresh, and were just delicious. Every bite felt comforting but exciting at the same time. You can tell they really care about what they’re serving. One of those restaurants you leave already planning your next visit.
